Advanced endoscopy lesson from Prof. Dr. Özdil on live broadcast

'8th Gastroenterology Days' brought together Turkey's leading physicians in the field. Biruni University Hospital Gastroenterology Specialist Prof. Dr. Kamil Özdil performed the POEM operation applied in the treatment of Achalasia disease on live broadcast and conveyed current endoscopy techniques to young physicians.

At the 8th Gastroenterology Days, where pioneering names shared their experience and knowledge, Gastroenterology Specialist Prof. Dr. Kamil Özdil from Biruni University drew attention to the relationship between fatty liver and Hepatitis B.

Speaking at the congress organized by the University of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Özdil said, “Gastroenterology Days is a large organization that covers about 60 training and research hospitals around Turkey and the entire gastroenterology community. While current developments are followed, new horizons are opened to the participants by applying advanced techniques in endoscopy with live broadcasts. In this context, our physicians from every region of Turkey and leading names in the field of gastroenterology participated in the 8th national Health Sciences University Gastroenterology Days.”

“Fatty liver disease affects one third of the society”

Prof. Dr. Özdil gave the following information about the operation performed on live broadcast:

“We performed the procedure of opening the stenosis in the esophagus, which is used in the treatment of achalasia, endoscopically without the need for surgery, with the POEM technique on live broadcast. We also shared our knowledge and experience on this subject with young physicians. At the congress, we drew attention to the relationship between fatty liver disease and Hepatitis B. Hepatitis B is seen around 4 percent in Turkish society. Fatty liver disease also affects one third of the society. We shared with the participants the problems that these will cause in the liver in case of their combination by supporting them with the most up-to-date publications.”
