Niğde Provincial Health Director Bahadır İnan; “Breastfeeding practices have decreased, breastfeeding duration has shortened”.
In health facilities affiliated to Niğde Provincial Directorate of Health, the importance of breast milk is explained with various activities held on October 1-7 Breastfeeding Week. Stating that the contribution of breast milk to the development of the child is explained with various programs organized by the Provincial Health Directorate throughout the week, Provincial Health Directorate Dr. Faculty Member Doğan Bahadır İnan said that their goal is to raise awareness of mothers before, during and after birth. İnan; “Breast milk is the best food that can provide all the nutrients babies need for 6 months alone. Since breast milk is the best food for infants and young children, breastfeeding has been recognized as a human right. The best food for every baby is its mother's milk. This is because breast milk not only nourishes the baby in the best possible way, but also creates a lifelong spiritual connection between mother and baby. In short, breast milk nourishes both the body and the soul of the baby.”
“Breastfeeding practices decreased, breastfeeding duration shortened”
Pointing out that it has been known since ancient times that breast milk has many benefits, İnan said: “The benefits of breast milk are known, but despite all this, breastfeeding practices have decreased in many parts of the world due to various social, economic and cultural reasons, and the duration of breastfeeding has shortened. With the introduction of new technologies and the adoption of new lifestyles, the importance given to this traditional practice has significantly decreased in many societies. In order to initiate and maintain successful breastfeeding, mothers need to be effectively supported not only by their families and communities but also by the entire health system before, during and after birth. “ he said.
