Do not neglect hemorrhoids and anal fissures

Drawing attention to the seriousness of hemorrhoids and anal fissure diseases and making warnings, General Surgery Specialist Assoc. Dr. Tuba Mert said, “These diseases are seen in approximately 50 percent of the society. Treatment varies according to the stage of the disease.”

Diseases such as hemorrhoids and anal fissures can cause serious health problems if left untreated. Medipol Pendik University Hospital General Surgery Specialist Assoc. Dr. Tuba Mert emphasized that these diseases are common in the society, but treatment is delayed due to fear of examination or underestimation of the disease.

Treatment methods according to the stage of the disease

Stating that hemorrhoids occur with complaints such as swelling, bleeding and pain in the anus, Dr. Mert from Medipol Hospitals said, “Hemorrhoids are divided into two groups as internal and external hemorrhoids. We determine treatment methods according to the stage of the disease. In stages 1 and 2, the disease can usually regress with medical treatment, warm water baths, regulation of defecation habits and use of cream. However, surgical intervention may be required in stages 3 and 4.”

Do not ignore the symptoms

Stating that the second most common disease group in the anal region is anal fissures, Dr. Mert said, “This disease is usually triggered by constipation or diarrhea. Patients apply to us with complaints of severe pain and bleeding. Acute anal fissure is the early stage of the disease and can be cured with appropriate treatment. However, surgical intervention is inevitable in chronicized anal fissures. Unfortunately, it is not possible to cure this disease with medical treatment, we recommend surgical treatment.”
