Kırıkkale Provincial Health Director Dr. Murat Ağırtaş stated that breast milk is the most natural and healthy food for babies and emphasized that breast milk protects against infections and is the baby's first vaccine.
Provincial Director of Health Dr. Murat Ağırtaş made a statement within the scope of the “World Breastfeeding Week” celebrated between August 1-7 and pointed out that breast milk is the most natural and healthiest food source for babies. Dr. Ağırtaş stated that various activities emphasizing the importance of breastfeeding were carried out with the contributions of the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF.
“Night breastfeeding must be done”
Stating that breast milk is the most ideal food that meets all the nutrients babies need for the first six months, Dr. Ağırtaş emphasized that breastfeeding should start within the first half hour after birth and continued as follows:
“Breastfeeding is the baby's most natural right. The best gift to your baby is breast milk. The most suitable food for the baby's body and mental health is the mother's own milk. Like every living creature, humans should breastfeed their babies after birth. Breastfeeding should start within the first half hour after birth. The earlier breastfeeding starts, the more and longer the milk production. In order for the milk to be abundant and long-lasting, breastfeeding should be done frequently and whenever the baby wants. Night breastfeeding must be done.”
Dr. Ağırtaş said, “Breast milk provides a protective effect against infections and reduces the incidence of diseases such as allergic diseases, pneumonia and diarrhea in babies. In addition, breast milk is considered the baby's first vaccine and is easy to digest. Breast milk is always and everywhere ready, clean and at the appropriate temperature.”
