'Inhaler Drug Training Nursing' was put into service at Elazığ Fethi Sekin City Hospital. Inhaler Drug Training Nursing provides training to ensure that patients, especially COPD and asthma patients, use inhalers correctly and effectively. All patients who are prescribed inhalers are directed to the Inhaler Drug Training Nursing Unit by the physician, where patients are explained in detail how to use their medications practically.

Prof. Dr. Cebrail Azar said, “As it is known, COPD is seen in one out of every 10 patients in the society, and considering that COPD patients are one of the most common causes of death in the society, the use of the medications we give is important. If patients use their medications properly, it will of course contribute to the life expectancy of the patients. Studies have shown that both asthma and COPD medications, which we call inhalers or inhalers, are dangerous for their health if they are not used properly. However, medications that are not taken properly also facilitate the development of very serious health problems such as COPD and asthma attacks. The importance of correct treatment as well as correct diagnosis is already obvious, however, unfortunately, it has been observed that inhalers are used incorrectly between 50 and 90 percent in studies conducted in the society. Dr. Azar said, “Proper use of inhalers is very important for both the better health of patients and the prolongation of their life expectancy. Because of such a need, we, as the Chest Diseases Clinic, discussed this situation with our hospital management and requested inhaler drug training nursing for asthma and COPD patients in the same way as diabetes nursing. Our administrators also gave us this support with great effort. At this point, we were given the opportunity to work with an experienced nurse friend. For about two months, our inhaler drug training nurse service has started. We are one of the rare places in the region that provides this service. We have offered this service to our patients because we think that it will make many contributions to our patients.”
