Dr. Kazak: “We lose approximately 2,500 patients every year due to lack of organs”
Organ and Tissue Transplant Regional Coordinator Dr. Mehmet Kazak said that approximately 2,500 patients across the country die every year because they cannot find organs.
Organ and Tissue Transplantation Conference was organized at Çarşamba State Hospital. Making the opening speech of the meeting held in the conference hall of the hospital, Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Aykut Özturan said, “We organized this meeting in order to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation and to minimize the question marks in mind in this regard. We will increase the number of meetings we organize with the motto that every organ donation is a new light of hope.”
After Özturan's speech, Dr. Mehmet Kazak, Regional Coordinator of Organ and Tissue Transplantation, said, “Unfortunately, we lose approximately 2,500 patients every year because they cannot find organs. Therefore, organ donation is a vital decision that can be a beacon of hope for many families.”
Dr. Kazak reminded that Turkey has a high success rate in organ and tissue transplantation and that donated organs are removed with great care, and answered questions from the participants after his presentation.
