“Koru Nature Camp” organized by Koru Hospital between November 1-3 to prepare prospective parents for childbirth was completed. Onur Aydın, who attended the camp with his wife, said, “Believe me, I learned that the things I have learned for 42 years are wrong here.”
Koru Hospital implemented the Koru Nature Camp project with the aim of preparing expectant mothers and fathers for birth in the best way possible, making the birth process conscious and safe, alleviating anxiety during the process and increasing social awareness by spreading the awareness that birth is a natural process. The Koru Birth Camp, which was held at Bolu Koru Hotel between November 1-3, included many sessions such as 'How Birth Affects Our Genetics', 'Becoming a Parent', 'Daily Life Practices During Pregnancy', 'Birth Preferences'.

Onur Aydın, who attended the camp with his wife, said, “We have learned that the only thing we have learned so far from environmental factors, factors in our education time, general factors is that the only thing we have learned so far is wrong. With this training, I have learned what child development should be done before my wife's child planning, what should be done during childbirth, what I should do as a father after childbirth. So you know there is a typical situation in our society. They say that the mother makes the child, educates the child, raises the child, the mother provides the necessary factors, but I don't agree with that as of today. I am 42 years old, I am very happy to be here. I have learned a lot of things. Believe me, I have learned that the things I have learned for 42 years are wrong here. And from today onwards, we will be more conscious and do better things for our children. We will not believe in environmental factors. We will attend trainings. We will do the necessary research to raise a child who is beneficial to society and we have learned to trust our most important physicians.”
“We want to raise our child equipped with knowledge”
Tuğba Aydın stated that it was a very useful training and said, “First of all, I am very happy that I participated in this training and that the owner of the hospital, Aydan Hoca, and one of our physicians, Ayşegül Hoca, provided us with this opportunity. It was a training far beyond what I expected. First of all, we have gained a lot of new information and we believe that knowledge is always power. That is why we are already here with my husband. We want to break the taboos and raise our child in a way that is equipped with knowledge in the process of raising an individual for this pregnancy, pregnancy and afterwards. And the more information we get, the more we try to make this process enjoyable rather than fearful. Gynecologist Prof. Dr. Aydan Biri stated that they received positive feedback from the families and said, “I think everyone knows that education makes a difference and the most basic need of our lives is the need to get a lot of information. Of course, there are many sources for people to access information today. The diversity of these sources is sometimes tiring, sometimes it goes to the point where getting information is not very accurate or confusing, expectant mothers, expectant fathers. As you can see, we have been conducting parenting, birth school, pregnancy school within our plans for years. We have been providing these trainings for about 15 years and we see a lot of benefits. Both in childbirth, parenting processes and breastfeeding processes. Birth is actually the most important preventive health service in the society, that is, if we think that all parents are eager or want to reach a healthy baby, a good pregnancy process, a good birth, a good breastfeeding process is the most basic task for all of us. We work as a team with health personnel, health institutions and parents. We work as a team. In real terms, our body is already biologically fit to conceive, grow and give birth to a child. But today, too many practices affect and change this. If you think about our country, people give birth with a caesarean section rate of 62 percent. Caesarean section is a very important and good surgery. But we are reviewing such a broad training program that includes its contributions to health and its effects on the baby side and the mother's side. But mostly we talk about birth processes, pregnancy processes and their data at today's current level of knowledge together with families. So far, we are getting very good feedback from our families. Unlike the previous short-term, two-hour, one-day, etc. training programs, we carried out this 3-day camp. We plan to continue it.”
