Expert warned: “Fertility decreases anatomically over the age of 35”

Gynecologist Merve Vural Yalman said that fertility decreases anatomically after the age of 35.

Sivas Medicana Hospital Obstetrician Gynecologist Dr. Merve Vural Yalman stated that fertility decreases anatomically after the age of 35 and stated that with the long education life and increase in the rate of work in women, births decreased. Stating that the miscarriage rate has increased due to the advancement of the gestational age, Yalman said, “We no longer have mother ages as we used to. As the socio-economic levels of people increase, they do not want to have many children. Nutritional differences, staying away from natural foods or advanced maternal age play an important role in miscarriage cases in pregnancies.”

“There are many reasons for miscarriages”

Emphasizing healthy nutrition and moving away from a poor quality lifestyle to prevent miscarriage during pregnancy, Yalman said, “There are many reasons for miscarriage in pregnant women. It may be nutritional differences, staying away from natural foods or advanced maternal age. We don't have mother ages like we used to. In fact, it still exists. It can be seen more intensely in rural areas, but when we look at the centers, people now prefer to become parents after their 30s due to the increase in the rate of education and work. The situation can be the same not only for the mother but also for the father. Exposure to external factors can impair the quality of the father's sperm. This leads to genetic anomalies. When genetic anomalies increase, our body focuses on destroying them. As a result, the rate of miscarriages increases significantly. This is the biggest cause of miscarriages. Miscarriages during pregnancy are usually seen between 6-9 weeks, “he said.

“There may be a decrease in birth rates”

Stating that people do not want to have many children as their socio-economic level increases, Yalman said, “There may be a decrease in birth rates according to the advancement of maternal age and the variability of socio-economic level. As the socio-economic levels of people increase, they do not want to have many children. Economic concerns come to the fore. But when we look physically, we start having children over the age of 30. Above the age of 35, fertility drops anatomically. After the age of 40, it drops dramatically. In other words, no matter what is done or how much it is desired, it does not happen. If the person over 40 has a desire for a child and has tried for about six months and has not happened, we find it medically correct to direct them directly to assisted reproductive techniques, vaccination and even in vitro fertilization treatment process.”
