Family physicians play an important role in the initial diagnosis and treatment of diseases

Denizli Provincial Health Director Uz. Dr. Berna Öztürk gave information about the primary health care services carried out in Denizli. Stating that family physicians are the first point of application for preventive health services and diagnosis and treatment of diseases, Öztürk said; “We invest in health without getting sick in 130 Family Health Centers and 348 Family Medicine Units in Denizli”.


Stating that primary health care services are health facilities where health promotion, preventive health services, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation services are provided together, where individuals can easily access services, and where effective and widespread health care services are provided, Denizli Provincial Health Director Uz. Dr. Berna Öztürk; “With the Family Medicine practice, which was initiated in 6 provinces including Denizli in 2006 and has been implemented throughout our country since 2010, preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative health services are provided for individuals from primary health care services. Our citizens can register by going to the Family Health Center closest to their residence address. In Denizli, we carry out Primary Health Care Services in 7 District Health Directorates, 12 Community Health Centers, 3 Healthy Life Centers, 4 Ketem, 1 Mobile Cancer Screening Truck, 2 Migrant Health Centers, 118 Health Houses, 130 Family Health Centers and 348 Family Medicine Units.”

Underlining that activities are carried out to protect and improve public health in many areas such as vaccination, various health cancer screenings, oral and dental screenings, studies on maternal, infant, child, adolescent reproductive health, mental health, healthy nutrition, prevention of chronic diseases, environmental health, combating addiction within the scope of preventive health services in primary health care services, Uz. Dr. Berna Öztürk; “The goal in the fight against infectious diseases is to prevent the emergence of diseases. In our family health centers, preventive health services, which start with vaccination activities in infancy and childhood, continue until the person dies. Pre-marital SMA Screenings, Newborn SMA Screenings, Newborn Hearing Screening Program, Newborn Vision Screening Program, Developmental Hip Dysplasia Screening Program, and Developmental Hip Dysplasia Screening Program are carefully maintained and closely monitored. Women's health activities continue uninterruptedly with programs for monitoring women aged 15-49, pre-marital counseling, pregnant information classes, prenatal and puerperium follow-ups, and promotion of normal delivery. Cancer screenings are also carried out at our Family Health Centers. Women between the ages of 40-69 are screened for breast cancer, women between the ages of 30-65 are screened for cervical cancer, and both men and women between the ages of 50-70 are screened for colorectal cancer. We also carry out screenings for diabetes, hypertension, obesity and cardiovascular risks at our Family Health Centers. In this way, we diagnose chronic diseases at an early stage. Our citizens can benefit from these services by applying to our family physicians.”
