Samsun Çarşamba State Hospital is implementing a new health service with a smoking cessation polyclinic after interventional radiological (biopsy) procedures.
Speaking about the smoking cessation outpatient clinic to be opened within the hospital, Çarşamba State Hospital Chief Physician Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Aykut Özturan said, “Smoking and nicotine addiction is a health problem that can be treated. Smoking and tobacco products threaten human health by negatively affecting many organs, especially the lungs. We are opening our smoking cessation polyclinic to support our citizens in their fight against smoking in order to reduce the risk of smoking-related diseases and improve the quality of life.”
1 out of 5 people use tobacco
Chest Diseases Specialist Dr. Fatma Selen Ala Çıtlak, in charge of the smoking cessation outpatient clinic, said: “Approximately 1 out of every 5 people in the adult population uses tobacco products. We lose more than 8 million people worldwide every year due to smoking and related diseases. We are now with our citizens who want to quit smoking, which threatens public health, in their struggle against addiction.”
On October 11, citizens will be able to make an appointment through the Central Physician Appointment System (MHRS) for the smoking cessation polyclinic, which will start accepting patients.
