Hand hygiene is the first step to health

In the event program organized by Atatürk State Hospital infection control committee nurses; It was explained that our hands are not really cleaned with classical washing methods, and that real hygiene can be provided if the methods determined for this are washed by applying the methods determined for this.

During the event, posters about hand washing were hung on information boards, informative brochures were distributed to intern students, and a video and public service announcement on hand hygiene were broadcast on LCD screens in the outpatient clinic service areas of our hospital. In the program, service staff were also visited with prepared reminders and questions.

“With the support of UNICEF, October 15 is celebrated as 'World Handwashing Day' in more than a hundred countries. The aim of the event is to encourage people all over the world to wash their hands with soap and water and to ensure that this is not limited to one day, but remains on the agenda throughout the year. Hand hygiene is the most important step in preventing infectious diseases, protecting against diseases and preventing the development of resistance to antibiotics. Promoting hand hygiene practices through multi-modal strategies is an effective approach and examples of successful implementation demonstrate the effectiveness of these strategies in reducing healthcare-associated infections.”
