“Common causes of hearing loss in children”
Stating that one of the most common causes of hearing loss in children is earwax known as buşon, Opr. Dr. Gökduman said, “However, this condition may also be associated with problems such as middle ear inflammation and fluid accumulation that require more advanced intervention. In addition, congenital or acquired hearing loss can also negatively affect children's hearing. Thanks to early diagnosis and treatment, such problems can be eliminated and disorders that may occur in children's speech and language development can be prevented.”
“Symptoms should be paid attention”
Emphasizing that it is extremely important to recognize the early signs of hearing loss, Opr. Dr. Gökduman said, “It is important to consult an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist in the presence of findings that may suggest hearing loss, such as your child speaking loudly, watching television loudly or being unresponsive to sounds. ENT examination and hearing tests to be performed when necessary will enable you to take your child's hearing health under control.”
“Children's academic success can be increased”
Stating that hearing health is a critical issue that should not be neglected, Opr. Dr. Gökduman said, “A simple check, especially before the school year, can positively affect your child's future educational life.
