While the danger of heart diseases, which are among the most common diseases in our country, is increasing day by day, Cardiovascular Surgery Specialist Dr. Utku Alemdaroğlu said, “Heart diseases have started to be seen in young people. We should move and exercise all the time.”
Due to the increasing prevalence of malnutrition and obesity, the incidence of heart diseases has been increasing in people under the age of 50 in recent years.
“It used to be a disease of the elderly”
Dr. Utku Alemdaroğlu, Cardiovascular Surgery Specialist at Acıbadem Adana Hospital, made statements to İhlas News Agency. Dr. Alemdaroğlu said, “More than the numerical increase in the number of heart attack cases, the age of heart attack patients falling to the 40s worries us. In the past, it was generally seen as a disease of the 50s and 60s, which we call the elderly population, but now we have started to operate on patients younger than ourselves.”
“We should always exercise”
Speaking about the fact that sedentary life increases heart diseases, Dr. Alemdaroğlu then said the following:
“Patients now apply to us to have bypass at the age of 45. Of course, what we eat and inactivity have changed this. Now there are cars, public transportation and we move less. We eat worse, we work under difficult conditions and this negatively affects our cardiovascular health. When you look at Adana in particular, the air temperature has just dropped and it has started to be possible to go outside. This means we can be more active outside. Let's move now, let's do exercise all the time. Let's make it a habit to climb 2-3 flights of stairs instead of waiting for the elevator.”
On the other hand, Cardiovascular Surgery Specialist Dr. Utku Alemdaroğlu stated that eating habits should also be changed and more water consumption is important in preventing heart diseases.
