Hot weather warning for those working in the field: Don't get electrocuted

While thermometers in Adana showed 40 degrees Celsius, with the humidity, the sensible temperature rose above 50 degrees Celsius. Experts stated that heat stroke should be taken seriously and drew attention to fluid consumption.

Kozan State Hospital Internal Diseases Specialist Doctor Kemal Kürkçü, who stated that those working in open areas in hot weather should be careful against heat stroke, emphasized that heat stroke should be taken seriously.

Kemal Kürkçü reminded that the hottest days of the last 50 years were experienced and said, “The heat has reached very important levels. We are trying to live with the highest temperatures of the last 40-50 years. Temperature is very important in human life because it is one of the main causes of fluid loss in the body. Body fluid loss is too much. The most common picture we smell is heat stroke. The most important point for us is that it can be fatal. Over 50 percent of cases are lost. The most important point for us is to prevent the development of this condition. Groups with risk factors related to heat are workers, athletes, law enforcement officers, military police officers and field workers. Those who work outdoors should first of all be in cool places. It is important to consume at least 3 liters of water a day. We recommend light-colored clothes, frequent change of clothes, constant contact with water.”

Kürkçü listed the symptoms of heat stroke as follows: “People with symptoms of dizziness, weakness, headache, fever, irritability, nausea and vomiting should immediately apply to the emergency room. Apart from this, if these people are experiencing confusion, the patient should be transported to the hospital by pulling the patient to a cool place and ensuring that the body temperature decreases.”
