Stating that fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder that manifests itself with symptoms such as widespread muscle aches, wandering pain, sleep disorders, depression and constant fatigue, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Specialist Dr. Figen Lokumcu said, “Waking up tired in the morning is one of the most prominent symptoms in this disease.”

“It is more common in women between the ages of 30-50”

Dr. Lokumcu said, “This disease can seriously reduce the quality of life by affecting patients not only physically but also emotionally and mentally. However, as with any disease, early diagnosis and treatment is of great importance in fibromyalgia. Early diagnosis can improve the patient's quality of life and help control symptoms.”

Dr. Lokumcu said, “Physical therapy, psychological support, dietary adjustments and medication are the most common methods to improve the quality of life of patients. In addition to these, complementary and supportive treatment methods also give effective results today. Approaches such as neural therapy, ozone therapy and glutathione therapy can contribute to the alleviation of symptoms by improving the quality of life of patients.”
