The project titled “In Vitro/In Vivo Potential of Cantradine Encapsulated and Trastuzumab Conjugated Niosomes in HER2 Positive Ovarian Cancer” led by Ege University Institute of Nuclear Sciences faculty member Prof. Dr. Emin İlker Medine was found eligible for support within the scope of TÜBİTAK-ARDEB 1001-Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program.

Ege University Institute of Nuclear Sciences faculty member Prof. Dr. Emin İlker Medine said, “Ovarian cancer is a type of cancer that is more likely to occur in people who have had breast cancer, the most common type of cancer in women. Ovarian cancer treatment usually includes surgery and chemotherapy. The drugs used affect healthy cells as well as cancerous cells. However, the doses needed for treatment do not reach the cancerous cells. To overcome these disadvantages, targeted drug delivery systems designed in the light of nanotechnology are preferred. In this project, Cantradine, a terpene secreted by the Spanish beetle after ovulation to protect the egg from environmental microorganisms, will be used. Cantradine will be encapsulated in niosome nanoparticles and trastuzumab conjugation will be performed to target HER2+ ovarian cancer cells and their in vitro/in vivo potential will be investigated.”
