“If there is a delay in diagnosis, it can lead to coma”

Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen, a Brain, Nerve and Spinal Cord Surgery Specialist working in Adana, made statements to İhlas News Agency on the subject. Prof. Dr. Şen said, “When the chickenpox virus affects the nervous system, it causes a picture we call encephalitis. At the time of encephalitis, as a result of the involvement of the cerebellum, it can cause complaints such as severe headache, loss of vision and vomiting. If there is a delay in diagnosis as a result of these symptoms, it can lead to coma. The chickenpox virus can lead to what we call neuropathic pain, 'I have pain as if I have been beaten'. It is an event due to the involvement of nerve endings.”

Emphasizing that attention should be paid to the use of common towels and sheets, Prof. Dr. Şen said, “It is necessary not to hug, kiss or touch. Masks were used during the corona period, if the number of the M Pox virus increases, the use of gloves will increase. Do not try on clothes or shoes while shopping in a store. We do not know whether the person who tried it before you had the chickenpox virus or not. Therefore, if there is really a concern and anxiety during this period, we should protect ourselves. The immune system should always be strong.”
