In the guide, which emphasizes that the disease is transmitted by contact, “Long-term close skin-to-skin contact is important in human-to-human transmission. Direct contact with secretions of the infected person, direct contact with skin lesions and skin or mucous membranes with impaired integrity or close contact with objects recently contaminated with skin lesions are other transmission routes. This type of contact generally poses a risk to people who share the same house, those who are in close proximity for too long in closed environments, and healthcare workers who come into contact with the infected person without using personal protective equipment.”
Symptoms of Monkeypox
While it was stated that the virus was definitively detected by PCR test, the symptoms of the disease were also included in the guide. “The incubation period of M-Pox, the time from risky contact to the onset of symptoms, is usually 6-14 days, but can range from 1-21 days. People with a history of an animal bite or scratch may have a shorter incubation period than those with tactile-contact exposure.”
