Denizli Provincial Directorate of Health continues its activities against cancer. The Mobile Cancer Screening Truck, which has a large share in this fight and can perform cancer screenings of citizens, was deployed in ADM Elektrik Dağıtım garden this week and served the employees of the institution.
Since 2018, within the scope of the Pink City Project carried out in cooperation with Denizli Provincial Directorate of Health and Denizli Business Women's Association (DİKAB); province-wide cancer awareness training and studies, screening activities continue in Denizli. To date, cancer information and screening activities have been carried out in textiles, public institutions, schools and areas where citizens are dense in the center and districts. Again, with the Mobile Cancer Screening Vehicle brought to Denizli, mobile screenings continue in the center and districts, and in the 7-month period in 2024; 5 thousand 587 mammograms were performed and 16 people were diagnosed with breast cancer and 1 thousand 894 cervical cancer screenings were performed and 1 person was diagnosed with cervical cancer. This year, the Mobile Truck, which serves in Kale, Honaz, Baklan, Babadağ, Çal, Çivril, Bekilli districts and Zümrütevler, Dokuzkavaklar in the center, continues its screening by serving the female employees of ADM Electricity Distribution.
“Healthy Women Raise Healthy Generations”
Visiting the Mobile Truck in the garden of Aydem Energy, Denizli Provincial Health Director Uz. Dr. Berna Öztürk drew attention to the fact that early diagnosis can save lives in cancer and emphasized the importance of timely cancer screenings. Uz. Prof. Dr. Berna Öztürk; “In the National Cancer Screening program carried out in Turkey; breast cancer screening is performed free of charge every 2 years for women between the ages of 40-69, cervical cancer every 5 years for all women between the ages of 30-65, and colon cancer screening every 2 years for women and men between the ages of 50-70, and breast, cervical and colon cancer can be detected early with these screening programs. These three cancers are the most important cancers that can be treated when diagnosed early. Unfortunately, cancer is still the second leading cause of death in the world and in our country, and breast cancer deaths are also very high. We have 3 KETEMs in the center and 4 in total in Denizli where these screenings can be done. But unfortunately, our citizens may not want to go to the doctor before they get sick or go to these centers and get screened. Within the scope of the Pink City Project, which we carried out in cooperation with Denizli Provincial Directorate of Health and DİKAB; we set out to see what we could do for women and we thought that if we had a mobile truck in our anti-cancer activities, we would travel everywhere. After great efforts, a truck was purchased by a philanthropist family in 2021 and the necessary medical equipment was completed by our Ministry and a Mobile Cancer Screening Vehicle was brought to Denizli. For 3 years, we have been actively conducting screenings in our districts and many factories, and today we will conduct cancer screening for approximately 400 female employees in ADM Electricity Distribution. We would like to thank ADM Electricity Distribution Board of Directors for inviting us here. With our slogan 'Healthy Women Raise Healthy Generations', we are conducting these screenings for our women to be healthy, to work with health, to raise children, and most importantly, to save their lives.”
