“Music will take place alongside medication in treatment”

Stating that musical stimulation plays an important role in dementia and contributes positively to cognitive functions, Prof. Dr. Talip Asil said:

“Recently, new techniques for cognitive stimulation and training have emerged. The use of musical stimuli as an integral part of cognitive stimulation has become increasingly important as an object of research over the last 30 years. Music has a wide range of effects on the brain. Playing a musical instrument or making music directly seems to have a much greater positive effect. Even in old age, learning music contributes to the development of cognitive functions. Especially in patients with early stage dementia, the healing effect of music is higher. In the coming years, cognitive stimulant therapies (music) will find much more place alongside standard drug treatments.”
