Ovarian cyst may be the cause of bloating

Symptoms such as persistent bloating, stomach problems and abdominal pain can be early signs of ovarian cysts. Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kumru emphasized that regular check-ups and taking symptoms seriously are important in reducing the risks of ovarian cysts. Kumru said, “Do not ignore the symptoms and make sure you have regular check-ups.”

Ovarian cysts, which are one of the most common gynecological problems in women, often grow without symptoms and sometimes manifest themselves with complaints such as pain and swelling. Gynecology and Obstetrics Specialist Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kumru stated that the symptoms may vary depending on the type and size of the cyst.

“Make sure you have regular check-ups”

Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kumru said, “Sometimes there may be painful defecation when the intestines are involved. There may be difficulty in urinating. While different complaints about the organs in the pelvic region called the pelvic region may occur, there may also be complaints of inability to conceive. In addition, long-lasting groin pains are also very common. In menopausal tumor cysts, abdominal swelling, frequent urination due to pressure on the organs in the region, constipation complaints, the onset of vaginal bleeding in menopause, sometimes called 'postmenopausal', and abdominal pain are symptoms encountered during menopause, especially in large-sized tumors. In addition to these, there may also be cysts that are detected incidentally in routine controls that do not give any symptoms. For this reason, do not ignore the symptoms and have regular check-ups.”

“Cysts can cause depression”

Stating that as the cyst grows, especially hormone-secreting types can cause hormonal imbalances in the body, Selahattin Kumru continued as follows:

“For example, sudden fluctuations in estrogen or progesterone levels can lead to changes in mood, energy level and menstrual cycle. Some women may also face mental problems such as depression and anxiety due to cysts. Treatment of ovarian cysts depends on the type, size and symptoms. Some cysts may require surgical intervention. In cysts that develop due to hormone imbalances, birth control pills or hormone-regulating drugs can be used. However, physician follow-up is absolutely necessary.”

“Recognizing the change in the body positively affects the treatment process”

Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kumru emphasized that regular gynecological controls are critical in protecting women's health and said, “Conditions whose symptoms are overlooked, such as ovarian cysts, can be diagnosed early thanks to these controls. Women's awareness of the changes in their bodies positively affects the early diagnosis and treatment process; cysts usually grow without symptoms, but some symptoms may be clues for the detection of cysts.”

Kumru emphasized that regular check-ups and taking symptoms seriously are important in reducing the risks of ovarian cysts.
