Protect yourself from burns with simple measures

Bursa City Hospital Adult Burns Officer Op. Dr. Selma Beyeç emphasized that burn cases in children can be prevented with simple measures to be taken at home.

Bursa City Hospital set up a stand to inform citizens about burns within the scope of World Burn Week. Informative brochures were distributed at the stand set up in the hospital. Answering questions from citizens, Adult Burns Officer Op. Dr. Selma Beyeç pointed out that burns, which is a very comprehensive treatment method, can be prevented with simple measures.

Stating that most of the burns especially in children are caused by tea and coffee, Op. Dr. Beyeç said, “Tea and coffee should not be drunk around children, and teapots should not be brought to environments where children are present. In addition, we can prevent children from getting burned and suffering by taking simple measures such as keeping materials such as teapots, pans and pots boiling on the stove close to the wall, not on the edge of the stove.”

“We can prevent a lot of pain”

Underlining that many accidents can be prevented with simple measures to be taken in homes and workplaces, Beyeç said, “We can prevent many accidents with the use of personal protective equipment, the prevention of leaks in electrical outlets, if any, and the provision of leakage current relays if you do not have one in your home. We can prevent a lot of pain. In this context, within the scope of Burn Week, we tried to give information to the people and patients coming to our hospital at the stand we set up with our dear nurse friends and doctor friends working in our burn center. We distributed the brochures we prepared.”
