Quitting tobacco and tobacco products is the primary protection against lung cancer!

Family Medicine Specialist Specialist. Prof. Dr. Elif Pala Gün said that lung cancer is one of the serious health problems due to its high incidence among cancer types and the high number of deaths of patients.
Uzm. Dr. Elif Pala Gün made statements due to Lung Cancer Awareness Month, November 1- 30. Stating that lung cancer ranks 1st in men and 3rd in women in the world among cancers, Gün stated that the incidence is 1st in men and 5th in women in Turkey.
Noting that lung cancer is an important health burden both in the world and in Turkey due to its high incidence, the high cost of diagnosis and treatment, and the high need for additional health services in the process, Gün underlined that the primary protection in the fight against lung cancer is to fight against tobacco and tobacco products.
Risk factors of lung cancer!
Stating that lung cancer has many risk factors, Gün said, “Among the factors, tobacco and tobacco products appear with a rate of 90 percent. In other words, our main goal in primary protection in the fight against lung cancer is to fight against tobacco and tobacco products.”
Stating that as smoking cessation polyclinics, they help citizens to quit tobacco consumption, Gün explained the process as follows;
“We take the analyzes of our clients who apply to us, we ask for the necessary examinations and examinations. Afterwards, we apply a treatment plan according to the medications they use in their diseases and their addiction levels. In our treatment process, we have face-to-face or telephone interviews and we proceed in this way.”
“We do not consider any medicine, any conversation, any treatment method sufficient to quit smoking!”
Stating that the priority at the point of quitting smoking is that the person himself wants to quit, Gün said, “We do not see any medication, no conversation, no treatment method as sufficient to quit smoking. I always state this to the patients we start medication. The important thing is that the person wants it. Because as long as the patient himself does not want it, nothing prevents it.”
