Recommendation to consume molasses and herbal tea during seasonal transitions
Koray Özkılıç, who has been an herbalist in Eskişehir for many years, recommended consuming mulberry, grape and carob molasses and herbal teas known to support immunity during seasonal transitions.
Seasonal transition is felt in Eskişehir as it is throughout the country. While temperatures change every day, many citizens suffer from diseases such as flu. Herbalists recommend consuming more mulberry, grape and carob molasses and herbal teas, which are believed to strengthen immunity, especially in such periods. Emphasizing the benefits of winter tea prepared with a mixture of herbs such as ginger, turmeric, galangal, cinnamon, cloves, echinacea and hibiscus, herbalists stated that natural drinks help increase the body's defenses.
“People have turned to artificial things without realizing it”
Aktar Koray Özkılıç said, “As you know, we are in a seasonal transition period. Therefore, the clothes people wear in the morning and the clothes they wear at noon have to be different. In other words, those who wear their coats in the morning have to take them off in the heat of the afternoon. There is now a 100 percent temperature difference due to the seasonal transition. This inevitably creates difficulty in the body's adaptation to the environment. After preventing this, we should use things that we need to increase the body's defense system. For example, things with antioxidant properties. Our mothers have a duty here. Because we used to use very good natural mulberry, grape and carob molasses. There were also mixed blends of these, we used to consume them. Recently, we have inevitably moved away from these. People have turned to artificial things without realizing it,” he said.
“If linden and mixed winter tea were consumed, the body's defenses would increase”
Emphasizing that things that prevent diseases should be consumed, Özkılıç continued as follows:
“We can consume good winter teas. Unfortunately, as Turkish society, we consume a lot of black tea. If linden and mixed winter tea are consumed instead, the body's defense increases. Winter teas contain ginger, turmeric, galangal, galangal, cinnamon, cloves, echinacea, hibiscus and such plants. In addition, there is licorice root that provides flavoring. Licorice root is also very effective in relieving dry cough. It also helps to increase the body's defenses. Such teas relax the body and even if we have flu or cold, it prevents us from getting away from our normal daily life and falling into bed. Therefore, in this environment and at this time, I recommend that our people especially accelerate the consumption of such teas.”
