Risk increases if there is a family history of breast cancer

Gaziantep Private Anka Hospital Gastroenterology Surgery Specialist Assoc. Dr. Mehmet Ali Yağcı emphasized that early diagnosis plays a life-saving role in breast cancer, which is the most common type of cancer in women, although new treatment methods are increasing.

Pointing out that thousands of women die every year in the world due to breast cancer, Gastroenterology Surgery Specialist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Yağcı warned women about this issue. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yağcı said, “Although many factors such as genetic, environmental, hormonal, socio-biological and psychological factors are factors in the development of breast cancer, all women are at risk of breast cancer. For this reason, it is vital for every woman to perform a manual breast self-examination every month for early diagnosis. After the age of 40, every woman should have a regular breast examination and mammography once a year. The rate of developing breast cancer increases with advancing age. There is a risk of developing breast cancer, especially in women who have a history of breast cancer in their first-degree relatives and who have been treated for breast cancer before.”

“Early diagnosis saves lives”
Stating that early diagnosis of breast cancer increases the success rate of treatment and significantly reduces the risk of death, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yağcı said, “Breast cancer is now a completely curable disease with regular breast examinations and early diagnosis, but women in the high risk group should enter screening programs earlier. As Private Gaziantep Anka Hospital, we never leave our patients alone during the treatment process. We support them with our expert psychologist and try to help them hold on to life and fight the disease.”
