Sunscreen creams are indispensable for skin care during this period and products with high protection factors (SPF 50 and above, PA) should be preferred for daily use. In addition, water-based moisturizers and antioxidant serums offer protection against environmental damage while providing moisture to your skin. Since skin oiliness may increase in the summer months, mild cleansers that do not clog pores and do not aggravate the skin should be used.”

“Procedures that can be performed in summer”

Stating that mesotherapy, Broad Band Light (BBL) treatments, botox and filler applications and laser epilation applications with low energy mode can be performed in summer, Uzm. Dr. Tatar shared the following information about the things to be considered before and after the procedure:

“Mesotherapy: Mesotherapy revitalizes the skin by injecting substances such as vitamins, minerals and amino acids under the skin. In summer, this procedure can be preferred especially on the face, neck and décolleté areas. Mesotherapy is one of the most effective ways to prepare our skin, which has been worn out during the summer months, for winter and to restore the glow of the skin that has diminished after returning from vacation. Although many concepts such as youth vaccine, radiance mesotherapy etc. come to mind when it comes to mesotherapy, you should consult your physician to choose the appropriate mesotherapy for your skin's needs. These nourishing substances given under the skin help to maintain the skin's moisture balance and increase its brightness in summer. Activities such as sea/pool are not recommended on the day of the procedure, but you can enjoy the water afterwards provided that you are protected from the sun.

Broad band light (BBL) Treatments: BBL treatment is an advanced light treatment used for skin resurfacing, correcting spotting problems and even skin tone. The pain of the procedure is minimal and BBL treatment, which can also be called a midday treatment, does not leave any damage on the upper surface of your skin, so you can return to daily life immediately after the procedure. During the summer months, this procedure can be particularly effective for even skin tone and treating fine veins. BBL treatments make the skin look brighter and younger. After this procedure, which can be applied in summer and winter on sun-tanned skin, care should be taken against the sun and sunscreens with high protection factors should be used regularly. In addition, care should be taken not to be exposed to direct sunlight before and after the procedure.

Botox and filler applications: Botox is one of the most popular procedures performed in summer. It can be preferred both for the treatment of wrinkles caused by increased mimic movements due to the increasing sun and to reduce sweating under the armpits, which sometimes causes bad appearance or odor due to the increasing heat. Fillers provide a younger appearance by adding volume to the skin. These procedures can be performed safely in the summer months because they do not increase the risk of staining or sensitivity with exposure to sunlight. However, it is important to protect the area where the procedure is performed from the sun to minimize the formation of swelling and bruising after the application.

Laser hair removal (with low energy mode): Laser hair removal is one of the most effective ways to get rid of unwanted hair. In summer, this procedure can be performed in low energy mode. However, since the skin will be very sensitive to the sun after the procedure, the sun should be avoided for a few weeks after the procedure and the skin should be protected with sunscreen.”
