
Sleep suppression after a meal is considered as a sign of diabetes. Prof. Dr. Faculty Member Selçuk Sezikli explained that among the symptoms of diabetes, popularly known as diabetes, there is also the state of sleep suppression after a meal.
Dr. Faculty Member Sezikli, who works in the Internal Medicine Clinic of Private Amasya Kolmed Hospital, emphasized that the symptoms of diabetes, which occurs when blood sugar rises in the absence and insufficiency of insulin, include excessive thirst, dry mouth, sleepiness after meals, fatigue, frequent urination, weight loss and blurred vision with these symptoms.
Stating that Type 1 diabetes is a condition caused by congenital insulin insufficiency, while Type 2 diabetes occurs later with insulin resistance, Sezikli said, “In the treatment of diabetes, first of all, lifestyle change, regulation of eating habits, diet, exercise and medical treatment with medications or insulin are applied. Prolonged and uncontrolled diabetes can affect many areas such as eye, kidney, heart, brain, foot nerves and vessels. Therefore, early diagnosis is important.”
