Düzce Municipality Ertan Uçar Alzheimer's Patients Day Care Center offers detailed services for patients and their relatives. The center, which offers free services with the aim of improving the quality of life of both patients and their relatives, continues to receive patient applications.
Düzce Municipality Ertan Uçar Alzheimer's Patients Day Care Center Responsible Özge Mert informed about the activities and services provided by the center. Stating that the institution located in Demetevler Street, Demetevler Neighborhood, Bahcesehir District, provides services to slow down and postpone the symptoms of Alzheimer's patients, Mert emphasized that their main goal is to improve the quality of life of patients and their relatives.
Emphasizing that the relatives of the patients are also very important for them, Mert said, “Caregivers will also be able to be active in their social lives and meet their daily needs. Relatives will also be able to receive psychosocial support in our institution. We aim to strengthen patient relatives through individual interviews, group therapies and trainings.”
“Patients' health is monitored daily”
Stating that the expert staff consisting of gerontologists, social workers, occupational therapists, nurses and elderly care personnel work sensitively, Mert said, “Our institution consists of 3 activity rooms, rest room, infirmary, office and kitchen. In addition, there is a walking path, greenhouse and hobby garden in our institution garden where the elderly can perform physical exercise and hobbies. We offer services in 4 areas: general activities, health follow-up, nutrition service and psychological counseling for patients' families. Our patients will arrive at 09.00 and leave at 16.30. Our patients who come to our center will perform mental, psycho-motor, physical, art, outdoor and music activities. Our gerontologist, occupational therapist and nurse will consult together and in consultation with the patient, they will create patient-specific activities in line with his/her wishes, needs and hobbies. With these activities, our patients are followed up, their Alzheimer's level is determined and this information is shared with their families.”
Applications are being received
Emphasizing that the services are free of charge and within the scope of social services, Özge Mert said about the admission conditions of the patients: “Patients must reside within the service boundaries of Düzce Municipality, not have infectious diseases and be diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, and at the same time, they must be able to see their own needs even with support. Applications can be made to Düzce Municipality Social Assistance Affairs Directorate and our center. Our institution is at the service of Alzheimer's patients and Düzce.”
