Dr. Aslı Elif Tanuğur Samancı said that natural sunscreens containing propolis are an effective and natural ingredient in preventing skin blemishes and protecting the skin against sun rays.
Sun rays cause wrinkles and premature aging by reducing the protein called Type I collagen in the skin. UVA makes up 95 percent of the UV rays reaching the earth and UVB makes up 5 percent. Samancı added that among the important criteria to be considered when choosing a sunscreen; products that provide broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection, have a high sun protection factor value (50 SPF ++ / PA++++), are produced with natural ingredients and contain a non-nano mineral filter (zinc oxide), do not harm marine life, are water resistant, do not leave white residue on the skin and have formulas rich in antioxidant ingredients are among the important criteria.
