The Solution To Immune Problems: Ozone Therapy

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Seçil Demir, recommending ozone therapy for those who have immune problems, said, “Ozone therapy is one of the leading alternative medicine applications that are increasing in popularity today.”

Acıbadem Kayseri Hospital Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Seçil Demir pointed out that ozone therapy is a complementary treatment and warned that the patient should continue his medical treatment. Stating that ozone gas, which is used in ventilation systems and drinking water treatment all over the world because it is a very effective disinfectant, is also used for therapeutic purposes, Dr. Demir said that ozone therapy is one of the leading alternative medicine applications and its prevalence is increasing. Stating that it is usually administered intravenously in doses determined by specialist physicians according to the patient's health status and needs, Dr. Demir said, “We apply ozone therapy in supportive treatment of chemotherapy in cancer treatment, in which we want to strengthen the immunity, in diabetes and hypertension patients to ensure the correction of the vascular structure, and in viral or bacterial infections that are intense today to strengthen and support the immunity of the person. Although there are major and minor variations, the intravenous route of administration is generally accepted. It is applied as a good supportive treatment for our patients with fibromyalgia or widespread muscle and joint pain, who have problems with the immune system and who want to strengthen their immunity, especially in this period when we enter the winter period, who have fatigue, who feel themselves in burnout syndrome.”

Referring to the fact that ozone therapy has no known side effects according to the studies, Dr. Demir stated that when the appropriate dose is not determined, no benefit can be obtained from the treatment. Stating that complaints such as fatigue, headache, weakness may be seen in the patient 3-5 sessions after starting ozone therapy, Dr. Demir added that this is called “healing crisis” and that these complaints will disappear when the treatment is continued.

“Perfect for patients suffering from vitamin deficiency”

Stating that good results are obtained if applied in 8 and 10 sessions in patients with vitamin deficiency, Dr. Demir continued his words as follows:

“First of all, blood tests should be checked. We get very positive returns in ozone therapy, which we apply in the form of 8 and 10 sessions with peace of mind in our patients who are determined that the main problem is not caused by vitamin deficiency or a different disorder. These processes, which I call 8 and 10 sessions, are applied 2 or 3 times a week, but maximum 2 or 3 times a year. As a reminder dose, it has been determined that it is beneficial for the person to be done every 6 months.”

Underlining that ozone therapy is an auxiliary treatment method that enables the body's functions to be restored to what they should be, Dr. Demir said, “Ozone therapy is not a treatment method alone, it is a complementary treatment. It is a method that will support the patient's recovery. For this reason, the patient who is on medication should continue these medications if he/she is using medication prescribed by the physician.”
