Ticks should never be killed by hand and should not be popped

Drawing attention to the Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever disease, Erzincan Mengücek Gazi Training and Research Hospital Infectious Diseases Clinical Microbiology Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faruk Karakeçili said, “Ticks should definitely not be killed by hand and should not be exploded.”

Expressing that the method known as tick breaking among the people is very wrong, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faruk Karakeçili said, “Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever is a reality of our region that we are now very familiar with. It usually starts to increase rapidly in April and May. We inform our citizens about protection methods and other issues. Plucking and crushing ticks with bare hands from animals and throwing them away is called tick crushing among the people. It is one of the biggest mistakes. We have been telling this to our citizens and informing them for years. We still encounter tick-breaking cases.”
