Stating that tourist diarrhea usually manifests itself with symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea, weakness and fever, Prof. Dr. Güzel stated that this situation can occur during travel as well as after returning home. It is also observed that these complaints have increased in recent days.

“It is very important that he/she receives nutrients and liquids”

Pools, seas, fresh vegetables and fruits that are not washed well, some foods that are prone to spoilage, ketchup, mayonnaise, etc. are among the foods that children consume most frequently during the summer vacation. So what is what we call tourist diarrhea? It usually manifests itself with diarrhea attacks. Your children may have abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea, weakness and fever. Such a situation can occur during travel as well as after returning home. So what should we pay attention to when we encounter such a child? It is especially important that he/she has taken his/her nutrients and has taken his/her liquid food.”

“Bacteria, parasites and viral infections can cause”

Stating that it can go to points that can be life-threatening especially in children under 2 years of age, Prof. Dr. Güzel said that in such a case, a pediatrician should definitely be consulted. Prof. Dr. Güzel said, “Loss of fluid, which we call dehydration, can cause the body's resistance to drop even more in children. If we encounter such a situation, the first thing we will do is to ensure that our child is fed. In cases where vomiting attacks, fever, abdominal pain and cramps are excessive and food is gradually decreasing, you should definitely consult a pediatrician and get the necessary treatment. Bacteria, parasites and viral infections are at the forefront when we consider the causative agents in tourism places. Especially in children under 2 years of age, we need to pay attention to this because fluid loss, fever, vomiting and nutrition can lead to life-threatening situations.”
