Trans fats cause memory problems

Expert dietician warned: Trans fat consumption in children causes memory loss!

Trans fats, which are found in the milk and body fat of some animals, are artificially produced and also extend the shelf life of foods. However, experts say that trans fats are one of the factors that cause memory problems.

Expert Dietitian Aslıhan Küçük stated that trans fats cause memory problems.

Stating that trans fats are found in milk and body fat of some animals, Aslıhan Küçük said, “The primary dietary sources of trans fats are processed foods. Apart from these, foods containing trans fats; baked products with long shelf life, milk powders, ready-to-sell baked pastries, cookies, pastries, cakes, cakes, pizza dough, packaged snack foods (crackers, microwave popcorn, chips), stick margarine, solid vegetable oil, fried foods (french fries, fried chicken, nuggets, fish in a pan), candy bars. Artificially produced fats extend the shelf life of food. As with any observational study, the results alone do not show that trans fats alone cause changes in memory, but trans fats can be seen as one of the factors leading to memory problems.”

Küçük noted that especially tiny snacks that contain high amounts of saturated and trans fats and attract children's attention with their packaging and taste threaten health and said, “For this reason, you should prepare healthy snacks that you want children to have at their fingertips with very practical and easy recipes.”
