Violence against women leads to human rights violations

Stating that violence against women leads to the violation of human rights, Psychologist Buse Şimşek said, “Violence against women leads to the violation of human rights with gender-based discriminatory attitudes and behaviors that affect women and that they apply only because they are women.”

Psychologist Buse Şimşek from Onma Psychology made statements on the subject. Psychologist Şimşek said, “Violence is the whole of attitudes and behaviors that cause the occurrence of actions, threats, pressures and arbitrary prevention of freedom, which result or are foreseeable to result in situations in which the individual will be physically, sexually, psychologically or economically harmed or suffered. Violence against women, on the other hand, leads to the violation of human rights with discriminatory attitudes and behaviors based on gender that affect women and that they apply only because they are women.”

“Childhood traumas increase the tendency towards violence”

Explaining the types of violence that violate the most fundamental rights of women, Psychologist Şimşek said, “Physical violence, sexual violence, psychological violence and economic violence are the types that violate the most fundamental rights of women and make their lives a threatening problem. In addition, femicide is a form of violence that is gender-based and is usually perpetrated by a man known to the woman, often by her partner or family members. In some cases, it has been observed that men who perpetrate this violence have psychological or emotional problems. In particular, childhood traumas, bad parental models and personality disorders may increase the tendency towards violence. However, such psychological-based problems are not the root cause of violence, they are only factors that facilitate the emergence of this situation.”

“The real reason underlying manipulative justifications should be questioned”

Psychologist Buse Şimşek, who also explained that violent men practice manipulation, then said the following:

“Nowadays, we often see that men who commit violence use manipulations to cover up what they have done by citing these factors as reasons. These manipulations are usually excuses that mitigate the situation and allow the perpetrator to escape responsibility. Such excuses used to cover up violence against women aim to legitimize the situation by concealing the true nature of violence. These excuses reduce the responsibility of the man perpetrating violence, while making the woman the perpetrator. Remember that no excuse can justify violence, no matter what reason is given. On the contrary, the real reason underlying such manipulative justifications should be questioned.”
