Ela Demircioğlu, who has been a shopkeeper in Karadeniz Ereğli district for 8 years, shared the details that consumers should pay attention to when buying cheese. Demircioğlu emphasized that attention should be paid to the taste and smell of cheese and said, “1 kilogram of cheese is produced from at least 10 to 13 kilograms of milk. Since cheap cheeses are usually made from milk powder, they are sold at lower prices in the market.”
Demircioğlu stated that they do not increase cheese prices unless dairy products are increased. Stating that cheese is an indispensable element of breakfast tables, Demircioğlu said, “When buying cheese, it is absolutely necessary to choose from reliable places, check the expiration date (SKT) of the products and pay attention to the correct packaging. It is also very important that the label prices are up-to-date.”
Demircioğlu, who advised consumers, stated that if the products on the shelf are yellowing, bitter in taste or heavy in smell, those products should not be purchased.
